HELLFEST OPEN AIR FESTIVAL @ CLISSON – JOUR 1(VENDREDI 21/06/2019) (English / French)

Hellfest -Vendredi 21 juin – Jour 1

Nous voici donc au second jour du festival, après une journée consacrée au Knot Fest. Il est temps d’ouvrir les portes du Hellfest, pour apprécier comme chaque année trois jours de concerts. Ça promet d’être inoubliable, cette année encore, pour le plaisir des fans de metal.

Nous rentrons sur le site du il y a déjà foule. Je remarque la présence de nombreuses femmes enceintes. Peu de personnes déguisées en ce premier jour de Hellfest, j’espère en voir plus le lendemain.

Je commence la journée par un petit tour des lieux. Le Market n’a pas changé, j’y retrouve Franky Constanza, ancien batteur de Dagoba. Toujours sympathique de le rencontrer, il est simple et ouvert à la rencontre de ses fans. Sur son stand il vend des fringues « Serial drummer« , produits de bonne qualité.

Le soleil et la chaleur répondent présent en ce premier jour du Hellfest, crème solaire de sortie, pour pas brûler.

Je commence la matinée avec le groupe:

So here we are on the second day of the festival, after a day devoted to Knot Fest. It is time to open the doors of the Hellfest, to enjoy as each year three days of concerts. It promises to be unforgettable, again this year, for the pleasure of metal fans.

We return to the site of the already crowded. I notice the presence of many pregnant women. Few people disguised on this first day of Hellfest, I hope to see more tomorrow.

I start the day with a little tour of the place. The Market has not changed, I find Franky Constanza, former drummer of Dagoba. Always nice to meet him, he is simple and open to meet his fans. On his stand he sells « Serial drummer » clothes, good quality products.

The sun and the heat are present in this first day of the Hellfest, sunscreen outlet, to not burn.

I start the morning with the group:

Le groupe rentre en scène avec le titre : » Immersion « . Les titres de la setlist ont toujours cette dimension particulière, pour nous envoûter. Le public motivé pour slammer, les titres s’enchainent et c’est déjà la fin du concert, le groupe remerciera le public d’être présent.

The band comes back with the title: « Immersion« . The titles of the setlist always have this particular dimension, to captivate us. The public motivated to slammer, the tracks follow each other and it is already the end of the concert, the group will thank the public to be present.

GloryHammer (12h15 / 12h45) sur le Mainstage 1

Un show qui s’annonce mouvementé avec le côté heroic fantasy et combat intergalactique du groupe. Du bon power metal, avec des jeux de couleurs telles que violet ou verts, comme dans un bon vieux jeux video. Le show commence par « Into the Terrorvortex of Kor-Virliath« , suivi de « The Siege of Dunkeld (In Hoots We Trust)« . Les titres s’enchainent, Thomas Winkler, nous présente les membres du groupe, puis reprend le concert. Le public est conquis par la prestation du groupe.

Vs English:

A show that promises to be hectic with the heroic fantasy side and intergalactic fight of the group. Good power metal, with color schemes such as purple or green, as in a good old video games. The show begins with « Into the Terrorvortex of Kor-Virliath« , followed by « The Siege of Dunkeld (In Hoots We Trust)« . The titles follow one another, Thomas Winkler, introduces the members of the group, then resumes the concert. The audience is won over by the band’s performance.

J’enchaîne avec:

Blackrain (12h50 /13h30) sur le Mainstage 2

Nous ne présentons plus nos chers savoyard, qui nous font penser à Steel Panther, pour un show qui s’annonce rafraîchissent ( lol ). Le chanteur, Swan, arrive sur scène maquillé dans le style gothique, et entame le premier titre : « Rock’n’Roll is Dead Long Live Rock’n’Roll« , qui annonce la couleur, avec du glam metal, un style qu’il faut aimer. Les titres s’enchainent et le concert se finit, sous les applaudissements du public.

We no longer present our dear Savoyard, who make us think of Steel Panther, for a show that promises to refresh (lol). The singer, Swan, arrives on stage dressed in the Gothic style, and begins the first title: « Rock’n’Roll is Dead Long Live Rock’n’Roll« , which announces the color, with glam metal, a style that ‘We must love. The tracks follow one another and the concert ends, to the applause of the public.

 Sonata Arctica (12h50/13h30) prend place sur la scène du Mainstage 1:

Tony Kakko, habillé d’un haut rouge et blanc et d’un jean, arrive sur scène avec les membres du groupe. Les fans sont excités de voir Sonata Arctica (comme je les comprends ). L’intro du premier titre démarre : « Closer to an Animal« , la foule est en délire. Suivront « Black Sheep » et de 4 autres titres, toujours un plaisir de les écouter en live. Un chanteur simple et talentueux,

Pendant le concert les fans chantent en chœur avec Tony, à chaque titre, un bon moment à vivre. Le concert se finit déjà.

J’ai trouvé ça trop court, mais pas une fausse note, la musique était bien maîtrisée.

Une petite pause s’impose en cette fin de matinée, pour faire quelques photos des festivaliers et des lieux.

Tony Kakko, dressed in a red and white top and jeans, arrives on stage with members of the group. Fans are excited to see Sonata Arctica (as I understand them :)). The intro of the first title starts: « Closer to an Animal« , the crowd is delirious. Follow « Black Sheep » and 4 other tracks, always a pleasure to listen to them live. A simple and talented singer,

During the concert the fans sing in chorus with Tony, for each title, a good moment to live. The concert is already over.

I found it too short, but not a false note, the music was well controlled.

A short break is needed at the end of the morning, to make some pictures of festival-goers and places.

Je reprends les concerts à 14h20 avec:

nos chers français, bien connu de la scène heavy metal sur le mainstage 2 (14h20/15h00)

Reuno, le chanteur du groupe démarre le premier titre : « Le fond et la forme« . Le public en délire, pogote et slamme. Le groupe déballe ses titres, plus agressifs les uns que les autres, une folie ce live. Reuno et ses acolytes sont là pour tout terrasser sur leur passage. Le groupe s’adresse au public aussi simplement, que moi à vous, très humain cet échange. La forme et l’énergie du groupe étaient bien présentes.

Reuno, the singer of the group starts the first title: « The bottom and the form« . The public delirious, pogote and slam. The band unpacks his titles, more aggressive than the others, a madness this live. Reuno and his acolytes are there to smash everything in their path. The group speaks to the public as simply as me to you, very human this exchange. The form and energy of the group were present.

Demons and Wizards (16h45 / 17h35) sur le Mainstage 1:

A ma grande surprise, nous retrouvons au chant Hansi Kürsh de Blind Guardian, pour de la musique du genre heavy power metal. Les deux styles se rencontrent et ça donne bien.

Le groupe a su accrocher le public avec des titres tels que : « Rites of Passage« , « Heaven Denies« , « Poor Man’s Crusade » et 7 autres titres, pour une très bonne setlist. A découvrir.

Vs English:

To my surprise, we find Blind Guardian’s Hansi Kürsh singing for heavy power metal music. Both styles meet and that gives good.

The group was able to hang the public with titles such as: « Rites of Passage« , « Heaven Denies« , « Poor Man’s Crusade » and 7 other titles, for a very good setlist. To discover.

Dagoba (17h40 /18h30) Mainstage2:

Nous ne présentons plus nos chers marseillais de Dagoba, qui depuis un bon moment, font leur trace dans le milieu du metal. L’intro démarre, les membres du groupe arrivent sur scène, et Shawter, balance la sauce avec le titre « I, Reptile« , suivi de »Abyssal« . Nous aurons également droit à « Face the Colossus » et « The Sunset Curse« , le fameux titre où Shawter demande au public de se mettre en ligne pour un wall of death, qui s’annonce très puissant, les metalleux n’ont peur de rien. Impressionnant à voir, attention les personnes fragiles !. Le concert se termine, c’était inoubliable, un moment sympa.

We no longer present our dear Marseille Dagoba, who for a long time, make their mark in the metal.

The intro starts, the members of the group come on stage, and Shawter, balance the sauce with the title « I, Reptile« , followed by « Abyssal« . We will also be entitled to « Face the Colossus » and « The Sunset Curse« , the famous title where Shawter asks the public to go online for a wall of death, which promises to be very powerful, the metalheads are afraid of nothing.

Awesome to see, watch the fragile people! The concert ends, it was unforgettable, a nice moment.

Dream Theater (18h35/19h35) Mainstage 1:

John Petrucci arrive sur scène avec ses potes, pour faire un concert qui va ravir les fans de metal progressif. Un show de haute volée, avec une setlist balayant la désormais longue carrière du quintet. Le concert démarre avec le titre « Untethered Angel« , suivi de « As I Am« , « Fall Into the Light » et de 5 autres titres. Le charisme de John a envoûté le public durant tout le show.

John Petrucci arrives on stage with his friends, to make a concert that will delight fans of progressive metal. A high-flying show, with a setlist sweeping the now long career of the quintet. The concert starts with the title « Untethered Angel« , followed by « As I Am« , « Fall Into the Light » and 5 other titles. John’s charisma captivated the audience throughout the show.

Ultra Vomit (19h45/20h40) Mainstage 2:

On ne présente plus Ultra vomit, dont le dernier album a fait fureur chez les fans. La présentation des membres du groupe, se fait dans une ambiance Looney Tunes de chez Warner Bros. Rajoutez des ballons de foot gonflables géants et des canards pour le public, et c’est l’amusement assuré. Le show débute avec l’intro Hellfest, puis le premier titre « Quand j’étais petit« , suivi de « Les bonnes manières« , « Un chien géant« , « E-tron« , et 16 autres titres qui ont enflammé le public. Que du bonheur pour les fans du groupe, et une excellente prestation, pour cette première journée du Hellfest.

We no longer present Ultra vomit, whose last album was a hit with fans. The presentation of the members of the group, is in a Looney Tunes atmosphere from Warner Bros. Add giant inflatable soccer balls and ducks to the public, and it’s fun guaranteed. The show begins with the Hellfest intro, then the first title « When I was little« , followed by « The good manners« , « A giant dog« , « E-tron« , and 16 other titles that ignited the audience . That happiness for the fans of the group, and an excellent performance, for this first day of Hellfest.

Dropkick Murphys (20h45/21h55):

Du punk rock festif à la sauce celtique, pour un show qui s’annonce extra. Le concert démarre par : « Foggy Dew« , suivi des titres : « Cadence to Arms« , « The Boys Are Back« ,  » Going Out in Style » et 16 autres morceaux. Une sacrée setlist que les les fans du groupe ont acclamée. Le show est excellent, le chanteur s’approche des barrières pour être proche du public. Le public chante en chœur avec le groupe sur le morceau « First Class Loser« , c’est juste énorme à écouter et ressentir. Le groupe nous a offert un concert dynamique et frais.

From festive punk rock to Celtic sauce, for a show that promises to be great. The concert starts with « Foggy Dew« , followed by « Cadence to Arms« , « The Boys Are Back« , « Going Out In Style » and 16 other tracks. A sacred setlist that the fans of the group have acclaimed. The show is excellent, the singer approaches the barriers to be close to the public. The audience sings in chorus with the band on the track « First Class Loser« , it’s just huge to listen and feel. The band gave us a dynamic and cool concert.

Le soleil se couche, les températures baissent, mais pas encore assez. La journée a été riche en émotion, avec d’excellents groupe, pour ce premier jour bien ensoleillé à la température tropicale.

Il est temps de rentrer au gite pour une bonne nuit de sommeil, histoire d’être en forme pour le jour 2. Mais aussi recharger les batteries de l’appareil photo !

Vs English:

The sun goes down, the temperatures drop, but not enough yet. The day was rich in emotion, with excellent group, for this first sunny day at tropical temperature.

It’s time to return to the cottage for a good night’s sleep, just to be in shape for day 2. But also recharge the batteries of the camera!
