SONATA ARCTICA + WITHERFALL @ TRABENDO ( 75 ) – 22/03/2019  » English & French « 

In this evening of March 22, 2019, we go to Paris and the room Trabendo, for a acoustic concert evening.

Tonight we have the American band Witherfall as support, then headlining, Sonata Arctica, that we do not need to present any more as the band is famous in the world of metal.

Fans have responded to this evening that promises to be unforgettable. It’s a first for me to attend to an acoustic show of bands that I appreciate.

The room opens its doors around 19:30, and the public moved in. Witherfall arrives on stage and sets the tone shouting to the audience « We are Witherfall and we will make you sad« . During the evening, the band will play very melancholic songs, such as: « The long walk home« , « Maridian’s » and others.

For the second part of the setlist, we move to a cheerful good mood with more joyful titles, including a cover of « Fade to black » by Metallica, very enjoyable to listen to.

Between each title the singer beckons each time to the audience with a smile. To end the show a title with a duration of 11 minutes. A nice finale with beautiful voices, which conquered the audience, and ladies seduced by the guitarist ;). A beautiful discovery.

It is 8:30 pm, Sonata Arctica arrives on stage with 15 to 20 min in advance for the happiness of the fans and myself. The musicians settle on the stage. Tony Kakko is still classy, just dressed tonight in a logger style shirt that suits him very well.

The Finnish band starts the concert with songs from the latest Sonata Arctica albums, such as:  » Life « ,  » Only the Broken Hearts « ,  » Half a Marathon Man « . The interpretation of the titles, very different from what we usually hear, delights the audience.

When the moment comes when Tony sings « Fullmoon » the audience reacts very quickly, and sings at the same time as him. It can safely be said that this title is one which the fans prefer. We hear the crowd singing in chorus « Run away! Run away! Run away!« . It always gives chills when fans sing in chorus with the artist.

I loved the moment Tony was playing in front of the camera, with his smile that leaves the fans dreaming.

The group then interprets its well-known ballad « Tallulah » which has not been modified in acoustics, a magical moment. Then follow « Paid in Full » and « Flag in the Ground » after which the band leaves the stage. But as we know, the encore is not long to wait.

Tony and Elias, return on stage for the title « Victoria’s Secret« , older. This is « The Wolves Die Young« , a piece that I love, which will close the acoustic set of the group, for this very good evening at the Trabendo. A mythical venue where the greatest bands have played, and that leaves us every time very beautiful memories.

Both groups gave the best of themselves. The fans and the public leave the room happy with their evening.

En ce soir du 22 mars 2019, direction Paris et la salle le Trabendo, pour une soirée concert acoustique.

Au programme du jour nous avons en première partie le groupe américain Witherfall, puis en tête d’affiche, Sonata Arctica, que nous n’avons plus besoin de présente tant le groupe est réputé dans le monde du metal.

Les fans ont répondu présent pour cette soirée qui s’annonce inoubliable. C’est une première pour moi d’assister à une soirée acoustique de groupes que j’apprécie.

La salle ouvre ses portes vers 19h30, et le public s’installe. Witherfall arrive sur scène et donne le ton en criant au public « We are Witherfall and we will make you sad« . Le groupe jouera pendant la soirée des titres très mélancoliques, tels que : « The long walk home » , « Maridian’s » et d’autres.

Pour la deuxième partie de la setlist, on passe à une bonne humeur entraînante avec des titres plus gais, et notamment une reprise de « Fade to black » de Metallica, très agréable à écouter.

Entre chaque titre le chanteur fait signe à chaque fois au public avec le sourire. Pour terminer le show un titre d’une durée de 11 minutes. Un joli final avec de belles voix, qui a conquis le public, et des demoiselles séduites par le guitariste ;). Une belle découverte.

Il est 20h30, Sonata Arctica arrive sur scène avec 15 à 20 min d’avance pour le bonheur des fans et de moi-même. Les musiciens s’installent sur la scène. Tony Kakko est toujours aussi classe, simplement habillé ce soir d’une chemise style bûcheron qui lui va très bien.

Le groupe finlandais débute le concert avec des titres des derniers albums de Sonata Arctica, tels que : « Life« , « Only the Broken Hearts » (Make You Beautiful), « Half a Marathon Man« . L’interprétation des titres, très différente de ce qu’on a l’habitude d’entendre, ravit le public.

Quand arrive le moment ou Tony chante « Fullmoon » le public réagit très vite, et chante en même temps que lui. On peut dire sans se tromper que ce titre est un de ceux préférés des fans. On entend la foule reprendre en chœur « Run away ! Run away ! Run away !« . Ça donne toujours les frissons quand les fans chantent en chœur avec l’artiste.

J’ai adoré le moment ou Tony a joué à poser devant l’objectif, avec son sourire qui laisse les fans rêveuses.

Le groupe interprète ensuite sa balade bien connue, « Tallulah » qui n’a pas étaie modifier en acoustique, un moment magique. Suivent « Paid in Full » et « Flag in the Ground » après lesquels le groupe quitte la scène. Mais comme on le sait tous, le rappel ne se fait pas longtemps attendre.

Tony et Elias, reviennent sur scène pour le titre « Victoria’s Secret« , plus ancien. C’est « The Wolves Die Young« , un morceau que j’adore, qui clôturera le set acoustique du groupe, pour cette très bonne soirée au Trabendo. Une salle mythique où les plus grand ont joué, et qui nous laisse à chaque live de très beaux souvenirs.

Les deux groupes ont donné le meilleur d’eux-mêmes. Les fans et le public repartent heureux de leur concert.
